Salary Range: $110,000 - $135,000

Primary Functions: The Vice President of Development leads all external fundraising and communications, and partners with the President, Vice President of Strategic Growth, and Director of Corporate Work Study to strategically build strong internal and external relationships throughout the community.

This person plays an integral part in fulfilling the mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. This is a visible position that requires a proactive approach and the ability to prioritize communications opportunities and liaise with students, staff, faculty, families, donors, and corporate work study business partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide CRJHS with strong, creative, energetic, strategic leadership on all fundraising initiatives and set new, ambitious, but attainable goals to increase annual operating funds.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts and pledges from an active portfolio of key major gift prospects; maintain and manage a personal portfolio of prospects at all times.
  • Provide key support and strategy for the President’s portfolio of CRJHS’s VIP donors.
  • Provide vision and direction to build and manage a full-scale development program, including major gifts, planned giving, foundation relations, annual giving, gift processing, and acknowledgment; convert fundraising results into tangible accomplishments that CRJHS donors care about.
  • Identify new major gift sources; serve as the organization’s primary knowledge source for philanthropic funding opportunities and philanthropic outlets; lead the development team in efforts to significantly increase the number of and size of major gifts; benchmark and keep abreast of important developments within the local, regional, and national funding landscape.
  • Develop, administer, and maintain the organization’s master prospect list; conduct appropriate follow-up and stewardship on all gifts.
  • Oversee and manage the current Development department team to achieve or exceed annual revenue and marketing/communication targets;
  • Oversee growth, maintenance, and enhancement of the organization’s fundraising database.
  • Foster innovation with social media tools to optimize the use of technology in garnering contributed revenue.
  • Manage and nurture a strong team of development professionals; oversee recruitment, management, development, and retention of professional and support staff in the development department; evaluate staff, develop a strong sense of teamwork, and establish an environment of mentoring and support; coach the team and bring strategic focus to the Development department.
  • Assist in CWSP New Partners cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts, as needed.
  • Work with the Development Committee of the Board to set/review annual goals and activity.
  • Serve as a member of the school Senior Leadership Team
  • Represent the school at meetings of fundraising officers in the Cristo Rey Network & Jesuit Schools Network
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the President

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; master’s preferred.
  • Leadership experience within an established fundraising/marketing & communication department.
  • A successful track record in fundraising, with at least eight years in leadership posts.
  • Experience with planning and management toward significant fundraising goals.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Direct experience in managing successful major gift programs (cultivation through solicitation and stewardship); knowledge of and experience in planned giving programs and capital campaigns preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School and the ability to support the Catholic and Jesuit character of the school.
  • Experience with donor database software; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; and basic office systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently and professionally

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is part of an expanding national Cristo Rey Network where each student works one day per week in an entry-level corporate job to develop technical and professional skills while earning half the cost of their education. There are currently 37 similar high schools across the country, with an average of two being added each year. Collectively, these schools serve 12,000 students and 20,000 graduates. The Network goal is for 70% of graduates to achieve a college degree within six years of high school graduation.
