Mission
The Link works with youth and young families to overcome the impacts of poverty and social injustice. Our 23 programs provide supportive housing, intensive case management services, and skills development to youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness, sex trafficking and/or involvement in the juvenile justice system. The Link prides itself on its innovative, youth-centered, strengths-based programming for youth and families as well as programs that are co-designed, implemented and overseen by youth.

Agency COVID-19 Requirements
The Link maintains a COVID-19 preparedness plan that mitigates the transmission and spread of COVID-19. Programs also maintain practices to ensure the safety of staff, clients, residents, and community members.

Basic Function
This full-time position requires someone who has demonstrated donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship skills, who is knowledgeable about communication strategies for individual donors, and who has the ability to positively contribute to The Link. The Individual Giving Officer will create, oversee, implement and monitor an innovative and cost-effective individual giving strategy that will increase engagement and funding from individual donors. This position will oversee all annual fund activities, database management and reporting, donor communications and benefits and focus on creating and growing relationships between The Link and individual donors. This will include identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individual donors in all ranges – with a primary focus on moving donors from the $0-$1,000 range to the $1,000+ range. Applicants for this role should have exceptional communication and organizational skills, and demonstrated supervision, fundraising, relationship building, and project management skills.

This position is eligible for health benefits, retirement plan, paid time off and other like benefits. This position works in a hybrid fashion, part in office, part from the community meeting with donors and part from home as possible once training has occurred.

Duties and Responsibilities
Cultivation, Stewardship and Solicitation
  • Develop and actively manage a donor portfolio and a pipeline of donor prospects; conduct research to identify best prospects; implement system to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward with phone, email, and face-to-face activities; set goals for number of face-to-face visits
  • Build relationships and cultivate individual donors from diverse backgrounds and communities and working in alignment with The Link's EDI goals around diversifying our individual donor base
  • Oversee department’s Raisers Edge donor management system as it pertains to Individual Giving, regularly reporting on progress, and immediate future steps.
  • Regularly prepare research profiles on existing donors, patrons and prospects.
  • Assist Development Director in identifying major donor prospects.
  • Supervise annual fund solicitation activities, helping to direct content and audience work with Development Manager to create mailing list and materials for all annual fund solicitations.
  • Assist in developing, strategizing, and implementing a planned giving program.

Stewardship and Benefit Fulfillment
  • Perform weekly thank you calls, and emails.
  • Establish a robust stewardship structure, leveraging various staff and board members, to accurately demonstrate gratitude, and engage donors with programs they care about.
  • Prepare program impact reports as appropriate.
  • Oversee all individual donor benefits, including those for staff giving and legends club ($1000+)
  • Develop and execute strategies to proactively invite donors to make use of benefits
  • Follow up on event invitations, encouraging attendance of new and existing donors.
  • Manage Annual Report.
  • Create content for monthly newsletter directed to individual donors.

Other Development Duties
  • Help build development plan (and update annually) plus oversee implementation as it pertains to individual giving.
  • Manage progress towards individual giving goals and shift planning as needed when goals are not met so that annual goals may be reached.
  • Help prepare reports for the Development Director, CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Attend committee meetings of the Board of Directors as needed.
  • Create reports, meet with committees and engage donors around large scale capital campaign.
  • Serve on internal committees and attend staff meetings as directed.
  • Accept and implement other specific assignments as directed, including campaign responsibilities and other off-budget projects that advance the mission of The Link as required.
  • Participate in all events/activities that development oversees for the agency (back to school cook out, gift link, link week, all staff event)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education and Experience
  • 2+ years of nonprofit individual giving experience preferable in a youth services or homeless field or 5+ years nonprofit development experience with transferable skills
  • Established successful track record in fund-raising – and individual asks
  • Experience managing successful special events and fundraising efforts
  • Proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office applications (365), Adobe Creative Cloud, Razor’s Edge or others
  • Proven ability to work on deadline and juggle a variety of responsibilities
  • Public speaking experience
  • Ability to self-motivate in largely unsupervised settings
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accurate and persuasive written and verbal communications
  • Familiarity with social service agency operations
  • Knowledge of local grant-making institutions, foundations, and community resources
  • Experience working with fundraising committees and annual campaigns preferably in the youth services and/or homeless field
  • Experience with program evaluation preferably in the youth services and/or homeless field
  • Experience with mass mailings and knowledge of mass mailing requirements
  • Knowledge of and experience with web-based communications
  • Commitment to individual growth on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Compensation: $70,000/year (Exempt).
