Salary Range: $68,000 - $74,000

Position Overview:
The Donor Relations Manager is an integral member of Blake’s Advancement team. This colleague thinks intensively about Blake’s donors and carefully arranges appreciation steps for supporters of the school. The successful manager spends the majority of their time coordinating effective stewardship activities, while also developing new and customized ways to honor donors. The manager reports to the Director of Major Gifts and works collaboratively with many members of Advancement. The manager also participates as a member of the reunion planning team, with volunteer management responsibilities for a small portion of reunion activities each year.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of comprehensive donor recognition program
  • Lead implementation of an integrated stewardship plan collaborating closely with annual and major giving
  • Prepare and manage the annual philanthropic impact report
  • Provide leadership to maintain and update, when needed, physical recognition spaces on campus, including annual giving, planned giving and campaign recognition
  • Manage all aspects of annual reporting to donors of endowed and current restricted funds
  • Lead a segment of volunteer management associated with reunion
  • Manage a small number of donor assignments (approx. 20) in support of the department’s stewardship and annual giving goals
  • Participate in school-wide activities and help represent Advancement in the life of the school

Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of two years of direct development experience, including annual giving, major gifts, corporate and foundation support, alumni and parent engagement or prospect research
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to work independently and accurately in support of annual work plan with time-bound results
  • Extremely high level of attention to detail and judgment in critical decision-making
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills – ability to interact with donors, alumni, students and parents in a polished professional manner
  • Strong computer skills and experience with relational database
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends

Preferred:
  • Demonstrated experience in donor relations, including experience creating endowed fund descriptions, annual reports and endowed fund reports
  • Demonstrated experience managing naming opportunities, named spaces and physical recognition
  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge or Veracross software
  • Experience managing volunteers for special assignments or ongoing projects
  • Appreciation for mission of independent schools
