** This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule that includes both telework and in office. The employee will be required to complete a telework agreement.

Under administrative direction, this position serves as the College grant expert, and is responsible for directing a college wide grants program resulting in external funding that meets the priorities of the college for multiple campuses. The purpose of this position is to generate grant revenue from diverse sources, both private and public, in support of the College’s strategic initiatives. The Director of Grants is responsible for:
  • leading the planning and implementation of comprehensive grant programs and proposals,
  • establishing goals and priorities for the grants office,
  • collaborating with administrators, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to identify highest need College initiatives,
  • proactively seeking and researching funding prospects,
  • building relationships with prospective funders and program officers,
  • developing timelines for grant projects,
  • leading grant teams to write and submit high-quality funding requests,
  • analyzing, monitoring and assisting in administering grants which are highly complex and technical in nature,
  • managing and monitoring the post-award grant spending, implementation, and reporting process to ensure compliance for grant requirements and outcomes on all college grants,
  • presenting reports and outcomes to College leadership, funding agencies, and boards,
  • managing the overall College grant-related processes, procedures, and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three (3) years of previous successful experience in a grant-writing position; demonstrated ability to successfully research, coordinate, and write complex grant proposals (both narratives and budget)
  • Demonstrated fiscal and budgetary grant management experience.
  • Strong communication, time-management, facilitation, and leadership skills in order to effectively lead grant project teams and oversee the process for preparing and submitting institutional grant proposals.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Demonstrated work experience in higher education grant writing at a college/community college.
  • 5+ years of experience managing large, complex grant programs and projects.
  • Extensive experience in researching grant proposals and navigating electronic grant submissions systems.
  • Demonstrated experience
  • Multilingual or multicultural background or experience working with underserved populations.

Additional Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
