Position Summary
The Giving Officer is a part of Aeon’s Advancement Team, which is responsible for driving revenue for the organization and managing its brand.

Under the supervision of the Individual Giving Manager, the Giving Officer is responsible for the implementation of Aeon’s mid-level gift strategy. This position will secure gifts by cultivating, stewarding, and retaining a large portfolio of mid-level donors ($500 to $3,999 annual giving range). He or she will also identify donors who can move from annual giving to mid-level; and donors in the mid-level portfolio who can move to increased levels of giving, including major gifts. The position will also play an integral role in stewarding all donors (regardless of gift level) and prospects to position them for long-term and/or increased giving to Aeon.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure the right people are in the mid-level portfolio by working with the Individual Giving Manager to identify annual fund donors for the portfolio, as well as moving donors out of the mid-level portfolio if engagement is not at the right level.
  • Nurture mid-level donors and guide the moves management process with a focus on retaining donors and upgrading gifts.
  • Contribute to build a robust pipeline of major donor prospects, including planned giving prospects, by identifying high-potential supporters within the mid-level portfolio and transferring them to the major gift cultivation process.
  • In partnership with the individual giving team, plan and implement donor relations strategies for the cultivation, conversion, and retention of mid-level donors.
  • Maintain best practices for donor stewardship with timely acknowledgement and follow-up.
  • Ensure that all donor interactions are tracked accurately.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the affordable housing climate in the Twin Cities and be prepared to speak to Aeon’s role in this ecosystem with supporters.
  • Champion a culture of philanthropy that celebrates donors and engages employees as ambassadors for Aeon.

Qualifications
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a fundraising, marketing, or client-facing role.
  • Strong ability to engage in interpersonal interactions that are culturally responsive, ensuring consideration for differing needs and expectations.
  • Strong natural ability for building relationships. Interest in actively interacting with supporters, likable demeanor, and ability to make good first impressions. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Bias for taking action and appreciation for spending significant amounts of time connecting with donors by phone, email, written communications, and in person.
  • Ability to exercise judgement and appropriately handle confidential matters and information.
  • Strong organization and planning skills; ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Sense of ownership, accountability, and a deep passion for the mission and values of Aeon.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Salesforce a plus.
  • Must have a commitment to learning and participating in Aeon's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts

Compensation
This full time, salaried position pays between $63,000 and $70,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
