Salary Range: $125,700 - $157,100

We are seeking a visionary leader for the position of Vice President for Advancement and Executive Director (VPAED) of the Dakota State University Foundation. Reporting directly to the University President, and serving on the President’s Cabinet, the Vice President is the chief executive officer of the Dakota State University Foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with University leadership, faculty, staff, athletics, and the community, including the Board of Trustees, the VP actively contributes to formulating and implementing strategic direction and goals. The VP’s primary responsibility is to lead the ongoing comprehensive campaign focusing on capital improvements, scholarship support, academic program assistance, and endowment growth.
  • The VP is dedicated to securing funds for the University’s programs and offering scholarships to support students. Ensuring fundraising success, the VP actively participates in events, supervises professional staff, and enhances the efficiency of initiatives. Additionally, the VP establishes and nurtures lasting relationships with key donors, expanding and diversifying DSU’s donor base and pipeline.
  • The VP aims to enhance and sustain the foundation’s visibility and engagement with constituents. The VP organizes annual events to boost awareness and donor engagement, fostering a culture of philanthropy for Dakota State University and its Foundation.
  • Ensure transparent and accountable financial reporting mechanisms, providing regular updates to senior leadership and the board of trustees, on budget performance, variances, and financial health. 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited educational institution required, a master’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of leadership experience in non-profit/corporate foundations, staff management, development, and fundraising.
  • Showcase a clear understanding of charitable organizations, operations, and volunteer management.
  • Budget management and financial acumen.
  • Exceptional written communication and verbal presentation skills.
  • Exhibit a genuine passion for community engagement, contributing to the ongoing efforts of the Dakota State University Foundation.
  • Express a strong commitment to DSU’s mission as a public institution dedicated to serving students from the local region and beyond.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
