Job Title: Development Director
POSITION SUMMARY: The Development Director will create and execute a fundraising plan to focus on growing revenue from individual and corporate donors to support the mission of Meals from the Heart.
The Development Director will ensure a strategic approach to identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individual & corporate donors so that giving is retained and increased over time. In addition, the DD will create a prospect metric for corporate and community meal packing event solicitation. The DD will gather event prospect contacts and will assist existing staff in the event sales process. There is a significant opportunity for advancement within Meals from the Heart as the founders execute the organization’s succession plan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
DEVELOPMENT AND FUNDRAISING (70%): Develop, implement, and report on strategies and activities to maximize individual & corporate contributions and special event participation and revenue.
- Ensure that all major annual donors are incorporated in a stewardship plan that keeps them informed of MFTH’s news, volunteer opportunities, and giving options. Track stewardship, cultivation and solicitation of individual giving & corporate donors. Donor prospecting and cultivation should involve the staff, board members, and volunteers in the cultivation process as appropriate.
- Implement and manage the major annual giving solicitation processes including developing a fundraising, communications, and event calendar. Renew and upgrade annual gifts of active donors.
- Oversee or perform data entry and gift processing; input detailed donor information and activity including contact reports; track and report on donor and prospect activity, opportunities, challenges and progress toward annual objectives.
CORPORATE AND COMMUNITY MEAL PACKING EVENT DEVELOPMENT (30%): Assist with the development and implementation of meal packing event client acquisition tools with the goal of increasing the number of high value clients and the resulting revenue stream. Will attend many events.
- Develop a list of attributes of high value clients and identify companies that match such attributes. Seek out contacts within those companies and assist with contacting.
- Provide input in the development of new sales tools including an awareness video and others.
- Work with CFO on developing budget and forecasts for events annually.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Proven ability to increase giving and retention.
- Extroverted, energetic, and communicative individual. Must have strong initiative and ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within the team.
- Entrepreneurial spirit a plus.
- Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in addition to outstanding organizational and planning skills with high attention to detail.
- Conduct business ethically and with integrity, demonstrating respect in each interaction.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) and at least four years of successful fundraising experience with a focus on individual donors.
- Requires computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and donor data management systems. Knowledge of DONORVIEW is a plus but not a necessity.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Reports to the President.
- Available to work some evenings and weekends. Potential for some out-of-town travel.
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Status: Full-time
Salary: $75,000-$96,000/year based on experience with additional bonus potential
Benefits: $250 per month for health and dental through an IC-HRA plan, 3% contribution of base salary to Simple IRA, 3 weeks paid vacation
Schedule: 40 hours per week with flexibility for event participation.
