Community Giving Manager

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000

Purpose:
To secure and sustain contributions from leaders and housing advocates in businesses and other organizations that care about and are interested in advancing affordable housing. The Manager will create relational fundraising strategies to expand and invite contributors to MHP's work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Create, nurture, and manage relationships with leaders of businesses and other organizations that are part of the affordable housing community, and other housing champions and advocates.

  • Identify and qualify prospective donors.
  • Develop individualized cultivation, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship plans for donors with whom staff are in one-to-one relationships.
  • Coordinate relational fundraising actions for MHP’s leadership and other staff.
  • Solicit gifts through in-person, phone, mailed, and emailed appeals.


Connect with and invite others in the affordable housing community to engage with and contribute to MHP, especially organizations led and staffed by Black, Indigenous, people of color, and people who are experiencing or have experienced housing instability. In-person and remotely.

Develop and execute annual fundraising campaigns.

Plan and coordinate in-person and online events for the affordable housing industry in collaboration with other MHP staff.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in MHP’s database.

Prepare and deliver donor acknowledgements in writing, by phone, and in person.

Prepare giving analyses and reports.

Support preparation of foundation and corporate grant proposals, as needed.

Compensation and Work Environment:
The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, MHP offers a competitive comprehensive benefits package.
MHP embraces a virtual work environment, providing broad flexibility and a range of support systems for all team members to work virtually. MHP’s base offices are in St. Paul, MN, and include a few shared offices and conference rooms for periodic meetings and work.
MHP brings all staff together in-person at least twice per year for professional development and team building, and to continue efforts on being an anti-racist organization.

NOTE: This position requires the selected candidate to be located in Twin Cities metro area to facilitate frequent in-person meetings with partners.

Qualifications:
Shares MHP values.
Three or more years of demonstrated fundraising experience, including:

  • Managing one-to-one donor or sales relationships.
  • Driving donor strategy and coordinating actions for other fundraisers, including those with greater positional power.
  • Qualifying and segmenting donors and/or clients.
  • Closing gifts of all sizes, including five-figure gifts.
  • Securing contributions through personal solicitations, mail, email, and phone calls.
  • Organizing donors/community members to take action in addition to providing financial support.
  • Planning and executing events.


Ability to:

  • Think strategically.
  • Communicate clearly and have a strong public presence speaking, writing, and listening skills.
  • Write and edit effectively. Professional email communications including solicitation. Grant writing experience preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to accommodate short deadlines and a fast-paced environment.
  • Meet regularly in-person with prospective donors, primarily located in Minnesota and especially in the Twin Cities metro area.
  • Proficient in basic office computer software systems (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Google Docs, CRM databases; experience with Office 365/SharePoint and Salesforce preferred).
