The Prospect Development Analyst position is a good fit for someone who has worked with relational databases (e.g., Salesforce, DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge) and can develop processes to leverage data into qualified major and planned giving prospects. This role will be a key development team member collaborating with gift officers to help build and manage their portfolios in order to meet MHIF’s annual fundraising goal. Job Summary:
The Prospect Development Analyst supports the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) Development team under the supervision of the Director of Development. The position provides critical prospect information including strategic, actionable, and time-sensitive donor data to meet MHIF’s annual fundraising goal. The role is focused on leveraging research data to increase the qualification and identification of major gift/planned giving prospects. The Prospect Development Analyst will create a lead generation system to identify new qualified prospects and build a pipeline of high-capacity donor prospects that facilitates increased cultivation and solicitation activities by MHIF gift officers.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct major gift and planned giving research on individuals as well as corporate and foundation giving by using internal MHIF knowledge along with public sources to map philanthropic opportunities to create a pipeline of robust donor prospects.
  • Provide qualified prospects and donor information on a regular and time-sensitive basis to build gift officers’ portfolios and to help MHIF meet its annual fundraising goal.
  • Analyze and synthesize accumulated information and new patient data to assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity and linkages to MHIF by utilizing a broad range of resources to compile biographical and philanthropic information.
  • Support a data driven culture by deriving conclusions and identifying trends through the statistical analysis of internal and external data and reporting out on prospect analytics to MHIF leadership and Development staff.
  • Compile, analyze and interpret all information collected to complete and deliver prospect research reports and recommendations to inform a donor centric fundraising strategy.
  • Practice personal accountability, meeting or exceeding expected deadlines and regularly communicating to team members for collaborative endeavors.
  • Work collaboratively with development operations, gift officers and all other MHIF staff as part of a positive, supportive culture.
  • Use Asana to track personal productivity, and document job processes.
  • Properly document all activities in Salesforce on a timely basis.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years of experience in prospect development and research, including major gift and planned giving discovery, identification, and qualification.
  • Strong technical and computer skills with a record of success using relational databases (e.g. Blackbaud, DonorPerfect, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office suite of products to build a robust prospect management program.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities including knowledge of prospect research best practices and standards as outlined by APRA and other industry leaders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on the ability to collaborate and communicate with team members and contribute to a positive work culture.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.


Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel locally to attend meetings and special events.
  • Hybrid role, with incumbent expected to work 20 hours a week, including at least two days per week in office, weekly.

Relationships:
Reports to the Director of Development, who reports to the Vice President of Advancement. The incumbent interacts regularly with the development department as well as MHIF leadership and staff.
