Salary Range: $46,000 - $50,000

The Cable Natural History Museum (CNHM), a nationally accredited organization in Cable, Wisconsin, seeks a candidate for the role of Development, Membership, and Marketing Manager. The ideal candidate will be a goal-oriented leader who is passionate about advancing the Museum’s mission, vision, and strategic goals. Reporting to the Museum Director, the Development, Membership, and Marketing Manager will strengthen the culture of philanthropy at the CNHM in partnership with the director, board, committees, staff, museum partners, and community to identify and engage new major gift prospects and create a comprehensive strategy for donor cultivation, solicitation, and retention. This person will also be responsible for meeting philanthropic goals through individual/corporate giving, major gifts, sponsorships, and maintaining/growing the CNHM’s membership program. They will also identify prospective volunteers and potential grant opportunities across all Museum activities to support and ensure programmatic success. As an integral member of the senior management team, the Development, Membership, and Marketing Manager is also responsible for planning, implementing, overseeing, and assessing the CNHM’s fundraising plans in support of the organization's strategic vision and growth.

Essential Duties:

  • Work with the Director to build and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, foundations, and business/corporate members and sponsors.
  • Implement stewardship practices to acknowledge and recognize donors for their contributions.
  • Identify candidates and cultivate relationships for the Museum’s White Pine Society and general legacy gifts.
  • Maintain accurate and current donor and member records and fundraising databases.
  • Work with the Director and Development and Marketing Committees on comprehensive outreach strategies.
  • Spearhead the creation of marketing materials for dissemination including press releases, social media posts, website copy, newsletters, and promotional materials.
  • Develop and manage membership programs to attract and retain individual and business donors.
  • Work with the Museum Director to build the fundraising capacity of the organization by developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies.
  • Lead fundraising initiatives by coordinating and implementing fundraising events.
  • Identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
  • Manage the organizational website.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Museum Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
  • Three years of professional fundraising/development experience.
  • Familiarity with donor management databases such as Donorview, Tessitura or Raiser’s Edge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience exercising judgement, confidentiality, and diplomacy with donors.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Initiative and ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with Cable Natural History Museum management team members and employees, volunteers, vendors, and community partners.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, some holidays, and school vacation weeks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in a museum or informal educational setting.
  • An expressed interest in natural history.
