In accordance with the organization’s strategic priorities, the Director of Development strengthens and expands support from individuals and families, foundations, corporations and organizations for general operations and for specific programs and projects of Planned Parenthood North Central States (PPNCS). The Director of Development serves as a key member of the PPNCS 5-state development leadership team and works with major donors across the state and works closely with key executive staff of the organization.

In consultation with the Regional Director of Development, the Director of Development is responsible for meeting monthly and annual performance metrics, which includes number of calls and face-to-face visits, and must attain his/her own specified annual fundraising goals. The Director of Development will conduct business ethically and with integrity; demonstrate respect for fellow colleagues; show dedication to improving quality and exercise discretion and judgment. Development staff are advocates in implementing our mission of “Affirming the human right to reproductive health and freedom.”

Responsibilities
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Develop successful fund development programs that support the ongoing operating budget, including individual donors, event planning and working with identified supporter groups.
Help create the top-level, strategic, development vision for the state and the details needed to execute the vision within the department and organization wide.
Anticipate external trends and organizational funding needs to adapt strategically.
Partner with Regional Director of Development to develop and track prospect strategies for major gift prospects in the state.
Conduct front-line visits with donors and prospective donors
Maintain donor portfolio of 75-125 donors.
Develop strategy and implement plan for increasing annual support primarily of gifts $25,000 and greater.
Contribute to best practices for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all leadership and above donors.
Manage and track donor relationships and proposals in Raiser’s Edge.
Serve as an ambassador for PPNCS in the state.
Participate as an active member of committees designed to improve collaboration and communication across the organization.
Produce regular status reports on prospect management activity and fundraising results.
Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for: safety and security, confidentiality, quality assurance, compliance with current laws and regulations including HIPAA and mandated reporting, and training
Supports and participates in:
Common teamwork; cooperates and works together with all co-workers.
Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations demonstrating compassion, empathy and dignity for all.
Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers and customers regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
Promotes positive public image and relations of PPNCS.
Completes requirements for acceptable attendance and timeliness to work, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
Performs other work duties as assigned.
Work Hours
Full-time position working 40 hours per week.
Tentative schedule: occasional evenings and weekends

This position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, flex accounts, long-term disability, life insurance, PTO, extended illness leave, volunteer time off, paid holidays, and 403(b) retirement plan.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of eight years’ development with an emphasis on building donor relationships.
Passion and demonstrated success in raising major gifts from individual donors.
Strong support for the mission and goals of Planned Parenthood is essential.
Desired Qualifications

Advanced degree preferred.
Thorough understanding of the importance of general operating fundraising, experience with capital or comprehensive campaigns is preferred.
Ability to converse with a sophisticated donor about gift planning mechanisms, create an annual work plan, and execute accordingly.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent problem-solving, and communications skills.
Ability to gather, absorb, and synthesize information from a variety of sources; including strong computer skills.
Demonstrated success in working independently and as part of a team; in meeting deadlines; and in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to relate well to individuals, be self-motivated, results-oriented, and goal-focused.
