Allison Johnson Heist
"A Legacy with the Next Generation of Philanthropy"
Allison Johnson Heist (she/her) is a values driven-leader in social justice philanthropy. She launched the Giving Project program at Headwaters Foundation for Justice in 2015 and has expertise in community-led fundraising practices, grassroots grantmaking, and philanthropic organizing. In her most recent role as VP of Culture and Partnerships, Allison built meaningful relationships with local funders and tended to organizational culture. She is currently looking for what is next for her in philanthropy and leadership journey.
Allison holds a Master's degree in Leadership for Social Transformation from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. In addition to her work in philanthropy, she has fifteen years of experience in faith-based community organizing, housing justice, and immigration advocacy. She currently serves on the board at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she chairs a reparations initiative to redistribute $2.4 million dollars to BIPOC communities in Minneapolis. She is a past board member of Resource Generation and Exodus Lending.
