Session Details

Celebrate the start of Pride Month with AFP Minnesota! Join us in-person or online for a lively panel discussion featuring LGBTQ+ leaders from a wide array of non-profit organizations.

We will discuss the opportunities and challenges around attaining leadership in nonprofits and the way that individuals navigate hurdles, lean into taking up space and integrate their personal identities into their professional work. We will also talk about strategies and successes in raising funds for their organizations. Attendees will come away feeling inspired by these leaders and the work they are doing to make our community more equitable.

Aaron Zimmerman, CFRE, M.A. (He/Him) is the Executive Director of PFund Foundation, the upper Midwest LGBTQ+ community foundation. He is a career fundraiser and non-profit executive who has supported social justice nonprofits in the Upper Midwest through comprehensive communications, strategic planning, and development. As a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), he utilizes best practices to support missions important to him and the community.

Kat Rohn
(They/She) is Executive Director for OutFront Minnesota - Minnesota’s largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization. Kat joined the organization in 2022, after spending more than a decade in higher education fundraising work. Kat has long been passionate about LGBTQ+ issues and engaged in making change from the workplace to local communities. Kat lives in St. Paul, Minnesota with their partner and two kids.

Fran Hutchinson
(She/Her/Hers and They/Them/Theirs) is the Executive Director at Equality Federation, the national strategic partner to state-based organizations working to win equality in the communities we call home. She has been with the Federation since 2012 and has worked on the ground with our partners to build strong organizations, develop tailored strategies, and create data-driven solutions to meet the needs of our movement.

Alfred Walking Bull (He/They) is the Development Director for Tending the Soil. Alfred is responsible to nurturing the relationships that empower the alignment to grow and deepen resources to ensure working Minnesotans can thrive through fundraising, grant-writing and creating strategic narrative foci.

His background in development is rooted in communications, organizing, journalism and storytelling. When not working to advance Tending the Soil’s efforts, they stay rooted in community through various volunteer roles with Out & Sober Minnesota, KFAI-Minneapolis + St. Paul, OutFront Minnesota Political Action Committee and the Queer Equity Institute.
