Every Heart MN
In February of 2024, Korinne Gerhart and Kristen Rasmussen of the University of Minnesota Foundation launched the Every Heart MN campaign to bring a more inspired and intentional perspective to American Heart Month. Every Heart MN is a statewide campaign dedicated to celebrating Minnesota's 5.8 million hearts. Every Heart MN partners with local businesses and communities to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease and its prevention, while showcasing the exceptional cardiac care provided by M Health Fairview. This awareness and prevention campaign focuses on Black and Brown communities, where cardiovascular disease has a significant effect.
The outreach and engagement efforts include partnerships with local BIPOC-owned and family-owned small businesses. Building community is the foundation of the Every Heart MN campaign and the team invited participation through community conversations, dining in participating restaurants, counting steps each day, and free blood pressure screenings in underrepresented neighborhoods.
In addition to these efforts, the campaign raised visibility, engagement, and fundraising efforts by six times over other American Heart Month. Every Heart MN plans to grow these initiatives in 2025 and beyond.
