"Women Changing the Lives of Women"
The WCA Foundation, a Signature Fund of the Minneapolis Foundation, is a volunteer-led grantmaking organization committed to supporting women in our community. Founded in 1866, the WCA Foundation was Minnesota’s first charitable organization. Today, the WCA Foundation has more than 40 volunteer members who steward an endowment of approximately $19 million. WCA Foundation is unique in that its decision-makers are women from the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area who are interested in learning about and responding to the most urgent needs of women in their community. These volunteer members are committed to ensuring that women have access to resources for education, economic stability, shelter, safety, and health. Thanks to the organization’s thoughtful, strategic stewardship, including its decision to join forces with the Minneapolis Foundation in 2020, WCA Foundation has increased its annual grantmaking in the community by 65% since 2015, with plans to distribute nearly $1 million in 2022.
