Salary Range: $56,000 - $59,000
Primary Purpose
To work as part of a team that insures financially successful and engaging fundraising events to cultivate philanthropic support and provide guests a unique experience of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.
Experience and Qualifications
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and three years of experience working in a nonprofit setting. Previous experience coordinating events or specific event elements such as silent auctions and supervising volunteers a plus. Successful candidates will have excellent writing skills, communication skills, organization skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and embrace working on a collaborative team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products, BidPal/OneCause, and Raiser’s Edge a plus. Candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends.
Job Responsibilities
Partners with the Director of Institutional Partnerships and Events on the successful implementation of fundraising events.
Manages key event components and strives towards error-free implementation:
-Bouquets: In tandem with the Director of Institutional Partnerships and Events, helps to develop event timelines, plan logistics, supervise event volunteers, secure auction items, and execute event elements. Manage food/beverage license applications, silent auction and event set up. Communicate with food/wine/beer partners and members of the Bouquets Committee.
Como Quest: Helps grow this fundraising event by managing the digital scavenger hunt platform (GooseChase), assigned event elements, promotions and volunteer teams.
Sunset Affair: Works with staff and the volunteer Sunset Affair committee to secure unique items and experiences for the auction; combines items into interesting packages; manages silent auction organization, design and presentation; manages auction mobile bidding platform and auction check-out; supervises volunteers during the event.
Works in partnership with the Creative Director and Director of Institutional Partnerships and Events to develop and execute event promotions using online ticketing platforms, electronic communications, print communications and signage. Writes promotion copy as directed. Develops event recap materials.
Works collaboratively with the Director of Institutional Partnerships and Events to develop and track event metrics and budgets.
Supervises teams of volunteers for set up, execution and tear down of special events.
Supports on-site event partnerships by assisting with the development of proposals and coordinating sponsor logistics when sponsors are on the grounds of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.
Assists with donor cultivation events, site visits and other donor contacts.
Serves as a member of a team that is highly committed to the organization’s mission and goals.
Salary and Background
The Event Manager is supervised by the Director of Institutional Partnerships and Events. This is a full-time position with a salary of $56,000 to $59,000.
