Position Overview
As the lead staff and organizational expert for the Achieve Twin Cities database, the development database specialist is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including data management and analysis, gift processing and tracking, maintaining database integrity and quality, creating data queries and exports, monthly and year-end reporting for accounting, and assessing technology-based solutions for the organization. They also provide significant support to Achieve accounting and development teams, Minneapolis Public Schools funds, and other staff database users. This position reports to the director of development. Achieve Twin Cities has a hybrid work environment that includes partial remote work.

The Young People We Serve

Twin Cities youth are our emerging leaders – talented, capable and ready to learn. We believe in the power of career and postsecondary readiness to enable young people to imagine and live rewarding lives, and we prioritize services for our students who face systemic barriers to access. 70% of Minneapolis Public Schools students are youth of color, 60% are eligible for free or reduced lunch, and 32% call a language other than English their home language, with nearly 90 different languages spoken in the district. In Saint Paul Public Schools, nearly 80% of students identify as non-white, two-thirds are eligible for free and reduced lunch, and over 125 languages and dialects are spoken in the district.
  

Duties and Responsibilities
Data management:

-Manage Raiser’s Edge database, including gift processing, donation coding, approval of matching and employee contribution gifts, and preparing back-up gift documentation.
-Maintain overall database integrity and quality, including accuracy of donor and prospect records, routine data improvement, data auditing and database functions
-Develop and maintain queries/exports for direct appeals, email campaigns, publications, events and ad hoc projects
-Serve as primary Achieve contact for Raiser’s Edge, wealth screening and other vendors and consultants as assigned
Import and export data from various sources including manual entry
-Create policy and procedure documentation and monitor compliance
-Provide monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting for accounting and other audit-related work and make necessary corrections
-Provide staff training and support for other database users, as appropriate, ensuring backup support for critical tasks
-Assist with requests from Achieve Twin Cities and Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) staff regarding donor information and tracking

-Provide support for Minneapolis Public Schools Funds (MPS), including:

+Producing periodic donor lists for MPS funds when requested
+Ensuring high quality customer service for MPS donors and fund contacts
  
+Assisting with documentation related to MPS grants


Data analysis:

-Serve as organizational expert on
Raiser’s Edge, providing expertise on functionality and capacity opportunities
-Collect, review and audit data for accuracy; investigate and resolve discrepancies
  
-Provide data import/exports, queries, and design and generate reports from a relational database to support donor cultivation and stewardship
-Collaborate with development and marketing team to track and report on fundraising progress and donor trends
-Provide leadership in on-going database clean-up
-Assess and implement other technology-based solutions for fundraising and communications
Identify opportunities for systems integration for improved data quality, reduced data entry, and increased cross-departmental collaboration

Gift processing:
  
-Accurately
code and enter all gifts and pledges as they are received, with guidance from accounting department, to ensure compliance with nonprofit gift record accounting standards
-Manage the donor acknowledgment process for financial and in-kind donations

-Review weekly and monthly reports for accurate reconciliation with finance department
-Process online donations and event registrations through Blackbaud
  
-Track donation pledges
-Enter and acknowledge grant awards and pledges
-Participate in weekly rotation of Achieve staff to open office mail, log all checks received, and receive and verify any currency delivered to the office

Donor development:
   
-Ensure that key donor interactions are captured in Raiser’s Edge
-Assist with implementation of Raiser’s Edge portfolio development/management
-Update donor wealth screenings and other fundraising-related data
-Assist team in analyzing fundraising prospects

Event and volunteer registration:

-Manage event and volunteer registrations within CRM system
-Process gifts and fees for events and day-of event gifts
  
-Create event sponsorship invoices and track status of receivables

Qualifications and Experience
Required:
-3-5 years of experience with managing cloud-based data system(s) in nonprofit organizations
-Expertise in MS Office applications
-Strong knowledge of fundraising practices
-Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical users
-Highly values the importance of attention to detail and data accuracy
-Knowledge of effective project and data management techniques
-Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and interpret information
-Diligent self-starter who proactively takes on database challenges and works through to resolution
-Commitment to Achieve Twin Cities mission, vision and values
-Ability to communicate and work well with people with diverse backgrounds and experiences

Preferred:
Raiser’s Edge (RE NXT) experience very strongly prefered
Associate or bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Compensation and Benefits
-$55,000 - $63,000 starting salary, depending on qualifications, with opportunity for compensation increases based on an annual performance review and to reflect pay parity across the organization.
-Full-time, exempt position.
18 paid holidays including 3 floating holidays and 8 half-day summer Fridays, 18 vacation days in year one (with increases based on length of employment), up to 10 sick days per year, and additional paid leave options for bereavement, compassionate leave, parental leave, and more. Hours are prorated for part-time employees.
-Other benefits include medical, health savings account option, dental, vision, life insurance and annual professional development funds.
-We offer a flexible schedule in a hybrid work environment that includes partial remote work.
