Prospect Development and Campaign Manager

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000

I. PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to build, evaluate, rate and maintain a qualified pool of major, planned and high-level annual fund prospects for a well-developed and high performing major gifts program. This position is an important member of a team that will implement and manage a $115 million, six-year comprehensive campaign to support scholarship, endowment, innovation and unrestricted fundraising. This position works closely with the VP for Seminary Relations, Philanthropic Advisors, President, and fundraising volunteers to support these initiatives.

II. KEY RESULT AREAS
Prospect Development

  • Proactively seek prospective major donors through data mining techniques, demographic searches, and volunteer referrals.
  • Manage discovery program to identify and qualify major gift prospects and continually feed the major donor prospect pipeline.
  • Review electronic and paper sources for research related information about Luther Seminary constituents and managed prospects and enter pertinent information in CRM database.
  • Ensure the right prospects are assigned to each Philanthropic Advisor. Initiate regular portfolio reviews with each Philanthropic Advisor and manage the process of prospect assignment.
  • Manage proposal development and tracking in fundraising CRM database.
  • Work collaboratively with Philanthropic Advisors to develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for individual major donor prospects.
  • Monitor donor contact reports for prospect research and moves management strategy development.
  • Evaluate electronic research tools, databases, print resources and other resources for cost effectiveness, reliability and relevance to the research process.
  • Participate in regular Prospect Management meetings with Philanthropic Advisor team.


Campaign Management

  • Support all aspects of campaign management and organization, including the development of campaign communications, print and electronic marketing materials, timelines and evaluate progress towards goals
  • Organize and monitor fundraising volunteer assignments and follow-up.
  • Support campaign committee meetings, including scheduling, assembling presentations and full meeting preparation and execution.
  • Plan and execute campaign events.


Other

  • Work with Advancement Services team to consistently ensure staff and volunteers have accurate and user-friendly reports.
  • Continuously improve donor research and volunteer management skills and department processes through professional training and educational experiences.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.


RELATIONSHIP
Reports to: Vice President for Seminary Relations

Internal relationships with: Philanthropic Advisors, Advancement Services, Sustaining Fund team, President, Office of Technology and Marketing/Communications.

External relationships with: Board members and campaign volunteers.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Desired education and experience:
1. Bachelor Degree preferred.
2. 3-5 years of prospect research experience

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:
1. Attention to detail, multi-task, and the ability to meet deadlines is essential.
2. Knowledge pertaining to comprehensive and/or capital campaign management.
3. Proficiency and understanding to identify and utilize resources for relevant information in a variety of formats.
4. Awareness and understanding of online researching,techniques
5. Ability to work individually and as a member of a team.
6. Excellent interpersonal and workplace skills.
7. Strong oral and written communication skills.
8. Keen focus on personal professional development and adherence to APRA and/or AFP ethical standards.
9. Fundraising CRM system competency; Raiser’s Edge experience a plus.
10. Knowledge of ELCA helpful.
11. Familiarity with other mainline Christian denomination also helpful.
