Overview
The mission of V3 Sports and the future V3 Center is to elevate our community through wellness, fitness, and education. We do this by teaching young people and adults to conquer their fear of water, mentoring teens as they develop life skills through athletic training, and bringing communities together. Our vision is that the V3 Center will be a place where young people come to learn, teens find inspiration, and adults access opportunity and equity through health, wellness, and community.

The Opportunity
At V3 Sports, we are building our team and our organizational capacity as we are launching a capital campaign to build the V3 Center. This community asset and regional destination is positioned as the gateway into North Minneapolis - the corner of Lyndale and Plymouth Aves. N. The V3 Center will be a hub, focused on health and wellness, aquatics, sports and recreation, and community event space. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, service oriented and collaborative with exceptional follow-up and organization skills. You must possess excellent oral, written, presentation and listening skills and be a quick learner with an “anything is possible mindset”. You must be a self-starter, able to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced, ever changing working environment. You will be a critical team member who will help ensure V3 develops and engages a solid donor support base to meet our fundraising needs. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits.

As the Director of Development you will report directly to the Executive Director, while working closely with Communications and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure there is cohesion between all elements of the team in our development, communications and fundraising plan to facilitate appropriate integration across departments and functions for project success and creation of proposals with deliverables. You will develop and implement a strategy for on-going support from donors in our database as well as new donors from the larger community. You will coordinate external and internal campaign initiatives to ensure high levels of stewardship and communication with donors and prospects at all levels of giving, support the campaign in concert with V3’s annual fundraising plans and ensure on-going communication with donors. You should be able to take initiative in solving problems and regularly apply critical thinking and problem solving skills in all areas of work, with a strong attention to detail and time management.

Primary Duties
Prospect Research and Cultivation

  • Develop new relationships & maintain/cultivate positive relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations with specific, measurable plans of action for current & potential donors to ensure our goals/needs are met
  • Conduct prospect identification and research for prospective donors, gather information about both new prospects and current donors, and record assessments in Network for
  • Good (NFG) database as well as campaign proposals from identification to solicitation
  • Manage all campaign gift correspondence, including timely acknowledgements, pledge payment reminders, pledge agreements and preparing and submitting reports to donors and those required by granting foundations and institutions
  • Schedule, and attend meetings with prospective donors and ensure all materials are organized and available at the meeting
  • Coordinate meeting logistics including making reservations, coordinating tours, and sending any necessary information to donors and solicitors prior to meetings and follow-up with materials as requested
  • Re-engage the Capital Campaign Committee, develop a plan and ensure they are involved and active in our fundraising
  • Give tours to prospective donors

Fundraising Events

  • Develop and coordinate mission-focused event planning for fundraising, donor-cultivation, and community events to increase attention
  • Deliver branded event experiences and continuously improve the process for effectiveness and efficiency
  • List preparation, invitations, follow-up calls, vendors, implementation & reporting for all fundraising events
  • Identify event goals and objectives and identify volunteer needs for event support
  • Coordinate event calendar and documentation to ensure proper planning and execution of recurring events

Stewardship & Gift Reporting

  • Process and acknowledge all gifts, send thank you letters, make thank you calls, update pledge schedules, etc.
  • Complete data entry of pledges, pledge payments, gifts, and credit card gifts; manage acknowledgments and tax receipt process
  • Maintain, update and make suggestions for CRM database-related policies and procedures
  • Serve as a resource on CRM database function; assist with troubleshooting and education as needed.
  • Maintain ongoing campaign progress dashboards, prospect pipeline and donor solicitation, mailing plans, budget tracking and deadlines for proposals and reports in Google Drive,
  • CRM database and paper files
  • Maintain campaign to produce monthly reports
  • Manage and execute annual Give to the Max Day fundraising campaign as well as other online giving campaigns in collaboration with Communications
  • Coordinate with the Facilities Director to develop programming sponsorships
  • Manage, write and produce sponsorship fulfillment funding reports, including data collection, timelines, working cross departmentally, supervising current projects and coordinate all team members to keep workflow on track

Communications

  • Work with Communications to develop printed and digital campaign & fundraising collateral (email, letters, postcards, ads, social media, website, etc.) to effectively build awareness and engage audiences
  • Help create content to increase brand awareness and engagement of individuals for monthly e-newsletter and biannual print newsletter, oversee distribution
  • Generate content and manage overall design development for organizational annual report in collaboration with Communications and SLT
  • Contribute toward the development and production of external materials for V3 including fact sheets, event scripts, presentations, and publications
  • Coordinates campaign-related events, including development of invitation lists, sending invitations, RSVP tracking, arranging food and beverage, managing budgets, working with hosts, preparing remarks and conducting follow-up communication
  • List preparation for annual fund campaigns, mailings, and donor-only events 


Grant Research and Writing

  • Research and write general operating & special projects grants
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of grant applications as outlined in the development plan to generate funds for the organization
  • Maintain grant calendar and ensure submittals of grants and reports by deadlines
  • Maintain grant paper/digital files and database correspondence
  • Maintain relationships with foundations and program managers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate of Arts Degree (AA) in Business Administration or Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or equivalent experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in a collaborative service oriented environment
  • Proven intermediate database experience
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated copy writing for Development related work, storytelling, editing, and digital marketing knowledge
  • Willing to flex hours and workdays to accommodate special events and projects
  • Proven ability to execute fundraising strategy
  • Proven ability to write successful grant proposals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to interact with diverse groups
  • Demonstrable ability to produce high-quality collateral pieces and external communications items, oftentimes in collaboration with a team
  • Experience conducting prospect identification and research for development goals
  • Experience utilizing CRM software as a tool to manage, track, and organize fundraising information
  • Ability and willingness to work both independently and cooperatively in a small office environment
  • Cultural competency and experience working with diverse communities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interacting with senior leadership and high net worth donors
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Prior experience working on or supporting a fundraising campaign
  • Experience using a customer relationship management database
  • Strong desire to contribute towards the success of North Minneapolis
  • Detail-oriented, organized, high achiever with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage highly detailed work with speed and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others and adjust to changing priorities
  • Visible leadership skills and desire to advance the organization
  • Knowledge of industry best practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive and data entry
  • A self-starter with the ability to work autonomously & as part of a team


COMPENSATION
Salary: $70,000-$80,000. Benefits package includes full medical and dental.
