FEATURED - Senior Development Manager

  

Rondo Community Land Trust | Saint Paul, MN
Salary Range: $70,000 - $800,000

Senior Development Manager is responsible for maintaining and increasing institutional funding support and relationships for Rondo Community Land Trust by 1) developing relationships with institutional and individual donors, 2) authoring grant proposals and reports, 3) building sponsorships, matches, and creative partnerships, and 4) lead direct mail and donor communications. The Senior Development Manager will report directly to the Deputy Director.

A. Institutional Giving – Appx. 80% of time

  • Prospect research new foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities, with a particular focus on national funders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Develop annual grant calendar.
  • Lead the full grant applications process from writing content, assembling supportive documents to submitting final product with support from Deputy Director and Operations Specialist.
  • Develop a strategy around increased stewardship for foundation and corporate partners.
  • Effectively track reporting metrics associated with awarded grants and reporting deadlines.
  • Connect with program staff to gather progress outcomes and ensure all grant reports are submitted in a timeline fashion. 

B. Individual Giving – Appx. 20% of time

  • Build, execute and maintain an annual integrated plan for annual giving and to deepen relationships from individual donors, including direct mail, monthly giving, and online giving.
  • Maintain communication calendar and annual appeal strategy in conjunction with Operations Specialist.
  • Develop and execute strategies to share impact with donors and build greater understanding of their impact on Rondo Community Land Trust.
  • Create plan to engage donors more deeply through relationship building, strategic touch points, invitations to get involved, and regular communication.
  • Oversee plans for developing and implementing a planned giving and major gifts strategy to build donor support.
  • Build relationships and share impact to donors through phone calls, personalized notes, meetings, and stewardship strategies.
  • Analyze data from Keela (our fundraising platform) to evaluate trends, set goals and implement strategic efforts to increase overall giving among donors.
  • Determine if there are alternative individual donor management platforms better suited for the organization’s individual donor program.
  • Secure sponsorships, including solicitation and stewardship plan in partnership with other senior staff at the organization.
  • Contribute to the successfully execution of Rondo Community Land Trust’s Annual fundraising gala. 


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Must be able to work effectively with partners who are significantly diverse with respect to age, race, ethnicity, gender orientation, socio-economic status, nationality, and religion.
  • Demonstrates commitment to housing and economic justice.
  • Knowledge of community land trust model a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Understanding of grant writing and management process and the intersection with budgeting.
  • Ability to clearly communicate expectations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate development and fundraising success.
  • Strong interpersonal, public speaking, and writing skills.
  • Capacity to maintain a network of contacts and seek out potential community partners.
  • Both strong analytical and creative skills.
  • Work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Detail-oriented and understand broader vision of department goals.
  • Experience in working with a constituent database; experience with The Raiser’s Edge is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point). 

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Proven professional with at least 3-5 years development experience with donor stewardship and managing people.
