About the Position:
The Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery seeks a Major Gift Officer to lead, design, and execute the Nursery’s major gift and planned giving program. As a member of the Development team, this position reports to the Director of Development and has direct impact on financial performance and the Nursery’s reputation among donors.

Relationships:
This position reports to the Director of Development.
Primary Objectives:
- To identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects of $5,000 and up.
- To orchestrate a moves management of donors through identification, cultivation and solicitation by executive director, director of development and volunteer solicitors.
- To deepen donor relationships with the goal of increasing revenue from individual donors.
- To identify planned giving prospects for the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a dedicated portfolio of 90 to 120 donors and prospects.
- Cultivate relationships to understand what motivates the donor and present tailored opportunities for them to fill their passion through major or planned gifts.
- Develop and execute a moves management program to build new donors and increase giving of current donors.
- Develop effective stewardship plans to strengthen the relationship and explore other avenues for support.
- Develop written plans, proposals, reports, and other donor communications.
- Contribute to the expansion of the planned giving program.
- Research and qualify major donor prospects to ensure growth of the Nursery donor pool.
- Document donor contacts in donor management software following established protocols.
- Provide regular updates and reports on prospect management and fundraising results.
- Collaborate closely with other members of the development team to ensure the best possible donor experience through communications vehicles, relationship management (i.e. volunteers) and other stewardship efforts.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Some post high school; 5-10 years of relevant experience and/or transferrable skills along with proven success in role
- Associate’s degree; 3-5 years of relevant experience and/or transferrable skills with along proven success in role.
- Bachelor’s degree; 2+ years of relevant experience or related field with along proven success in role
- Ability to build strong relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience and a strong understanding of prospect management, major donor cultivation and solicitation.
- Proven track record in securing major gifts.
- Previous experience working directly with board members, volunteers, and committee members.
- Experience with CRM databases, specifically Raisers Edge. -Knowledge of prospect research tools and planned giving vehicles.
- A successful candidate will be motivated, creative, and organized self-starter. They will have extensive familiarity with fundraising, exemplary communications skills and the ability to adapt to change and work through challenges. This candidate should be organized, prepared, detail-oriented, and accountable.
