Role Description:
The purpose of this position is to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward revenue generating relationships with individuals and organizations including corporations, faith-based organizations, and community groups and other groups who may give donations, financial or in-kind, to build capacity for more low-cost car repairs in our community. This position will also focus heavily on overseeing our appeals, organizing events, and managing volunteers. The Donor Relations Specialist is on the Development and Communications (DC) team and will be supervised by the Director of Development and Communications. There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.
This is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid work schedule with at least one day in the office each week.

Job Duties:
Fundraising: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward financial and in-kind donations from organizations. Manage a portfolio of current and prospective organizational donors with a focus on recurring, lapsed, and event donors.
Fundraising Appeals: In collaboration with the Development and Communications team, develop, create, and manage The Lift’s annual direct donor appeal plan.
Volunteer Management: Guide volunteer engagement through activities including recruiting, training, and managing volunteers, identifying/creating volunteer opportunities, and leading volunteer related activities including (but not limited to) mailings and organizational events.
Representation: Publicly represent The Lift Garage at various organizational and corporate events, fundraisers, and community activities to foster brand building awareness-opportunities.
Events: Develop, plan, and manage The Lift’s two annual fundraising events as well as ad hoc fundraising or donor/organization specific events that could result in financial or in-kind contributions.
Collaboration: Work with Marketing and Communication Specialists to provide content for events, volunteers, and donor organizations. Work with the Donor Relations Specialist to steward donors in this portfolio.
Evaluation: Track relevant KPI’s and report on them to appropriate parties each month. Maintain up-to-date data in the donor and volunteer CRMs.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Passion for - and commitment to - providing low-cost car repair to low-income Minnesotans.
- 1-3 of experience in fundraising and volunteer management, or related nonprofit roles.
- Comfort making a direct invitation for financial donations, in-kind services, and in-kind goods.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively and ability to work independently.
- Telephone and computer skills and ability to quickly learn job-specific software (Bloomerang)
- Comfort in speaking publicly in a variety of settings and to a variety of audiences.
- Specific experience with and knowledge of cars is not required.
- Someone who can practice a good work-life balance and practice collective care.
- Demonstrates a high level of discretion and ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information. This includes proprietary company data, client/donor information, and internal discussions.
Position Details and How to Apply:
Location: Minneapolis, MN. This position is hybrid, it will require being on-site at The Lift at least one day a week and regular travel to donor meetings (locally) is expected.
Salary & Benefits: This is a full-time (40 hours/week), exempt (salary) position with an annual salary of $53,560/year.
Full-time benefits include: Paid holidays (9 days/year), paid vacations (15 days the first year), and sick time off (10 days/year). Retirement savings includes an employer contribution (non-match, vested immediately) of 4% to a 403b. Mileage/travel will be reimbursed at the government rate. Other benefits include: Short and Long Term Disability, Parental Leave, and Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance. 30-minute meal periods are paid and you can ‘dress for your day.’
Days & Hours: Typical workdays are Monday-Friday, hours are flexible & negotiable although typically between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm. Some evenings and weekends will be expected, but no more than 80 total hours of work are expected within each two-week pay period.
