Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000

Job Summary
Annunciation Catholic Church and School is looking for a passionate, mission driven Director of Development who will be a part of this thriving and energetic Catholic community. This role, reporting directly to the Parish Pastor, will be responsible for building and maintaining donor relationships to cultivate a community of stewardship for our Parish. You will actively work to identify, solicit and steward gifts in support of Annunciation’s Mission.

The responsibilities of the Director include but are not limited to major gift solicitations, annual appeals, writing grants, legacy planning, donor database management, and oversight of large community wide fundraising event strategy. An integral and essential role is the development of effective, targeted communications to all stakeholder groups, continually seeking to build relations, inform, and inspire. The Director of Development will also plan and implement community relations and marketing activities in this role, working with the Parish Pastor and Councils to continually raise the visibility of the organization in the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Major Gift/Donor Support – Produce major donor and special category solicitations/support materials with the intent to establish a donor base and retain or upgrade gifts when possible. Cultivates donors by producing specialized correspondences, preparing letters of acknowledgment, scheduling in-person visits with/for the Pastor, and attending these as strategically appropriate.

Stewardship – Supports the Parish’s short and long-range goals for unrestricted funding sources by cultivating a culture of active financial stewards. Prepares annual stewardship campaign with a goal of increasing number of contributing donors as well as overall giving by 5% annually. Maintains parish member database and utilizes to best execute annual campaigns including School Annual Fund and Help-A-Student mailings.

Fundraising – Orchestrates methods of approach to potential donors. Researches public and private grant sources (agencies, corporations and foundations) to identify sources of restricted and unrestricted funding. Works to develop funding related projects. Organizes individual donor campaigns (e.g., major donors, matching gifts). Organizes solicitation drives for pledges of ongoing support from individuals, corporations and foundations. Solicits volunteers to lead major annual fundraising events and provides them direction and support to ensure success.

Cultivating relationships – Utilizes Parish member database including Alumni, school families, and parishioners to appropriately communicate Parish happenings, needs, and milestones. Oversees Alumni newsletter and outreach to our alumni community, manages list of major donors (top 50) to share with Pastor, increase communication with community members.

Ideal Experience/Qualifications:

  • Passion for furthering the mission of the Catholic Church and Catholic Schools
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent prior experience.
  • Strong connections to the south Minneapolis and Catholic community
  • Proven track record of achieving revenue targets
  • Excellent research, organizational and communications skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and persuasively
  • Experience and comfort working with advice of councils
  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically
  • Strong partnership-building and event planning skills
  • Strong computer skills including Salesforce, Excel
  • Familiarity with the field of new church development and social enterprise is desirable but not required
