Bridging, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization primarily serving the greater Twin Cities, empowers people to thrive in their homes by providing quality furniture and household goods for those pursuing housing stability. Since 1987, Bridging has served more than 110,000 households and currently operates out of three locations – Bloomington, Roseville, and Plymouth. Driven by nearly 4,000 volunteers each year and donations from the community, we provide the basic home essentials to more than 4,500 homes every year. On average, Bridging redistributes 15 semi-loads of donated furniture and household goods to an average of 100 households (300 people) each week. THE OPPORTUNITY
The Development Coordinator position will help support the philanthropic giving strategy for Bridging. This position will report to the Development Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for Bridging’s mission, a Community-Centric approach to their fundraising work, and have strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
Bridging has an approximate annual revenue of $5 million, two-thirds of which is contributed income raised by the Development Team. The Development Coordinator works cross-functionally to support the development and marketing/communication teams. This position is a crucial development team member and provides direct support to the annual giving campaigns and special events. The Development Coordinator will be responsible and accountable for performing at a high level in the following areas:
Annual Fund and Fundraising Event Support
- Manage a portfolio of entry-level donors.
- Contribute to the effective cultivation and stewardship of new and existing donors through clear, polite communication, thank you calls, notes, and timely follow-up on requests or queries.
- Under the direction of the Development Manager, provide administrative and logistical support, including participant outreach, event communications, and vendor coordination.
- Work closely with the Development Manager to ensure a smooth and impactful experience for all event participants.
- Lead all event vendor coordination, preparation, and day-of logistics with support from the Development Team.
- Under the supervision of the Development Manager, lead auction and raffle sub-committees. This includes and is not limited to meeting logistics, creating agendas, communications, note-taking, meeting follow-ups and action item solicitations.
- Create, manage, and oversee the execution of the auctions and raffle on event day.
- Create the presentation on the mobile bidding platform.
Lead volunteer recruitment efforts for events, clearly communicating expectations, roles, and responsibilities.
- Coordinate and oversee volunteers prior, and during events.
- Attend evening or weekend events as needed to support development activities.
Administrative Support
- Schedule meetings, coordinate logistics, and prepare materials for the development team to support their work with individual and institutional donors, volunteers, and committees.
- Work closely with ED, DoD, and the Development Manager on high-end donor cultivation events.
- Provide support to the donor database administrator, as needed, with gift entry, gift acknowledgment, and other tasks that contribute to donor stewardship.
- Provide support as needed to facilitate the creation of mailing lists for newsletters, R2P, brochures, solicitation letters, and other communication materials as determined by the Development Manager.
Other
Bridging intentionally creates a team-focused environment. While our departments and staff have areas they specialize in, we have regular practice of events and activities that allow our staff to engage in activities outside of their specialties. For example, staff might help set up and facilitate an essentials drive, speak at a community organization, or shop in the warehouse with a client. While these activities are not scheduled regularly, they help us all have a more complete perspective on our organization and recognize that we cannot furnish homes with hope without working together to accomplish our goals.

- Any other duty deemed necessary by the Development Manager and/or Director of Development to fulfill your role and/or needed by the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Understanding of and belief in Bridging’s vision and mission
- Individuals with lived experience or a passion towards empowering people facing the exhausting challenge of pursuing housing stability
- Mission and values-driven with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB)
- Prioritizes relationship-building above all else, and has terrific interpersonal skills
- Minimum 3 years of non-profit development experience
- Good sense of accountability, strong dependability, and impeccable integrity
- Detail-oriented and proactive approach to managing time-sensitive and competing workloads
- A quintessential team player with a willingness to support colleagues outside of one’s primary responsibilities
- Emotionally intelligent and self-aware, including the ability to both ask for, receive, and offer assistance or leadership when and where needed
- Enthusiastic self-starter operating with sustained energy and showing great initiative
- Computer proficiency includes Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience in Raiser’s Edge preferred, but not required
- Must have the ability to work occasional nights and weekend events, access to the Internet from home, and a vehicle or reliable transportation.
