POSITION PROFILE | DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

SUMMARY

The Development Officer at North Memorial Health Foundation plays a key role in the development, cultivation and stewardship of major donors, grateful patients, and corporate partners. This individual oversees a portfolio of major donors, corporate sponsors and prospects, and conducts donor solicitation in collaboration with the development office and the Manager, Corporate & Individual, Planned Giving.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages a personal portfolio of major and corporate gift prospects with the purpose of cultivating, soliciting and closing five- and six-figure or more gifts
  • Utilizing moves management strategies, assess prospects with identified capacity to move up the giving levels
  • Conduct face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship meetings with major/corporate donors and prospects
  • Develop solicitation strategies for donors and prospects supporting annual fund, planned giving, and any future campaigns
  • Participate in quarterly meetings with health system department leaders and the Manager for the purposes of developing relationships and identifying grateful patient prospects and department priorities
  • Collaborate with the Foundation Team to screen and prepare profiles of current prospective donors
  • Develop individualized written proposals for the purposes of soliciting major gifts from individuals and corporate partners
  • Work with the Development Specialist to assign other key team members their own donor portfolios
  • Manage the process of assigning and transitioning donor portfolios to Foundation team and support effective relationship management across the system
  • Working with the Manager, CIP, deploy key colleagues and board members to participate in donor meetings and fundraising proposals and solicitations
  • Set up a system for moves management and maintain accurate and timely records and contact reports for all donor interactions using the donor management database, Raiser’s Edge
  • Participate in Foundation and system events and represent the Foundation team as needed. Occasional nights or weekend functions
  • Assists in development and growth of physician engagement and grateful patient fundraising programs
  • Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals

COMPLIANCE

  • Recognizes and complies with legal regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility
  • Understands and follows principles and standards as outlined in North Memorial’s Corporate Code of Conduct
  • Protects patient/employee privacy and only accesses patient/employee related information as needed to perform job duties
  • Reports violations or areas of concern to supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer via established methods of communication

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3 years development experience required (5 preferred)
  • Experience soliciting individual gifts and working with corporate partners
  • Healthcare or adjacent experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Expert relationship builder and excellent customer service skills
  • Possess a high level of computer literacy, including experience using Raiser’s Edge or other donor management CRMs
  • Experience using wealth analytics tools like ResearchPoint or Wealth Engine
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to work independently, set priorities and complete work on time and with accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and excel in fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Mature judgment and the ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work some nights/weekends

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000
