The Department of Institutional Advancement at the College of Saint Benedict invites applicants for the full-time, benefit-eligible position of Engagement Officer.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement (AVP), the Engagement Officer (EO) will serve as a member of the Major and Planned Gifts Team within the Office of Institutional Advancement. The EO will also work closely with the Executive Director of Alumnae Relations and Director of Annual Giving to implement strategies that result in an increasing multi-million dollar annual giving revenue, while also growing the number of alumnae donors and volunteers.
The EO is responsible for building relationships with College of Saint Benedict alumnae to engage them in activities that will develop them as partners, advocates and investors in the college. This position will design a strategic approach to personally identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumnae engage in an increasingly active relationship with Saint Ben’s.
The College of Saint Benedict (CSB) is a liberal arts college for women located in the central lakes area of Minnesota. The campus is minutes away from St. Cloud, an increasingly diverse regional center with a population of over 100,000, and 70 miles from Minneapolis and St. Paul. Responsibilities:The EO will build relationships through in-person visits, telephone calls, written and verbal communications through various channels, and events. The EO will be responsible for tracking progress made towards established individual fundraising and engagement goals. As an expert in engagement opportunities at Saint Ben’s and in Service Enterprise best practices, the EO will facilitate mutually beneficial relationships between individual alumnae and Saint Ben’s, resulting in increased annual revenue, an expansion of the alumnae donor and volunteer base.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a personal portfolio of 200 prospective alumnae donors and volunteers with the financial capacity for gifts in the $1,000-$9,999 range.
- Devise and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies and meet activity and revenue goals by managing, implementing and maintaining an aggressive engagement plan. Execute cultivation methods to insure that assigned portfolio is appropriately solicited for annual gifts, whether by telephone, email, or virtual and face-to-face visits.
- Assist alumnae relations and annual giving teams with the development and implementation of strategies with the purpose of creating deeper relationships that accelerate growth in alumnae involvement, advocacy and giving.
- Apply best practices in volunteer management to all areas of work involving volunteers. Provide staff support to designated reunion classes. Work with alumnae relations and annual giving colleagues to build a robust reunion giving program.
- Secure and maintain collaborative partnerships with various departments in Institutional Advancement as well as other administrative and academic departments, specifically with the goal of integrating volunteer opportunities into Institutional Advancement’s alumnae engagement strategies.
- Along with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA), the AVP and the major and planned gifts team, develop, propose, and implement strategies for solicitation of leadership annual, major and planned gifts across the College including: determining ongoing relationships with prospect/donor; recommending specific purpose and level of gift; identifying those to be involved in cultivation and subsequent solicitation; assuring that solicitations are carried out.
- Serve as a liaison between the major and planned gifts team and the alumnae relations team to maximize the effectiveness of alumnae relations programming and CSB volunteer opportunities as cultivation strategies. Provide the major and planned gifts team support and training regarding volunteer management best practices and alumnae relations activities.
- Represent College of Saint Benedict at community and college-sponsored events.
- Where appropriate, develop and implement written plans for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of assigned donor prospects.
- Perform those duties and responsibilities as may be requested by AVP and the VPIA.
Qualifications:MINUMUN QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Ability and willingness for frequent travel throughout Minnesota and nationally up to 25% of the time, and to represent the college at evening and weekend events as required, with the goal of igniting alumnae’s passion for the college and instilling a culture of philanthropy
- At least one year of successful experience in one or more of the following: fundraising, alum relations, recruitment, non-profit, or sales. Experiences as a student, intern, or volunteer may qualify.
- Self-starter able to secure personal appointments and qualify new prospects.
- Strong computer experience and skills in MS Office.
- Ability to manage relationships, process, deadlines and budget while adhering to organizational policies and procedures and to effectively manage multiple changing priorities and solve problems with a positive and constructive attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an integrated environment and build positive relationships with internal and external clientele.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal relations skills.
