The JobSecure major gifts from individual donors, including unrestricted annual gifts, designated gifts for specific projects and programs, and planned gifts by managing a portfolio of high profile, high-capacity donors. This position is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor prospects and closing major annual gifts and planned gifts. Plans, implements and evaluates a comprehensive planned giving strategy for Mia. Act as a key ambassador through personal contact with donors and prospects.
In this role, you will…
- Manage a portfolio of 75 – 100+ major and planned gift prospects to secure funding and meet annual fundraising goals for unrestricted, restricted, and planned gifts from individuals. Annual goals are typically $1 – 2 million.
- Create and execute an individual plan for each donor so individuals are retained and upgraded, with a focus on one-on-one meetings to establish and strengthen donor relationships for long term support.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive planned giving program that aligns with Mia’s fundraising goals.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments on donor strategies and maintaining timely and accurate reports to leverage optimal fundraising opportunities.
- Produce or assist with documents, calculations, proposals, endowment agreements and other materials as needed by prospects, donors and advisors.
- Maintain an active, current body of knowledge of Mia and its mission, programs, activities, institutional needs, and fundraising priorities as well as planned giving trends and vehicles.
- Communicate and report on activities to department team and other key staff.

Specific Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
- At least seven years’ experience in individual fundraising, legal, financial, or a related field.
- Direct experience in cultivation and solicitation of individual donors.
- Demonstrated success in closing six-figure annual, endowment, and planned gifts.
- Expertise in planned giving and/or tax law.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to represent Mia’s mission with enthusiasm and professionalism to the public.
