That is why, for 124 years, Neighborhood House has been working alongside families to ensure that they have access to food and housing for their basic needs and education opportunities to help them achieve their dreams and goals.
Today, Neighborhood House has big dreams and we need help to achieve them. We are now seeking the right candidate to be our next Development & Communications Manager. Over the last 3 years, we have increased membership in our leadership circle by more than 30% and we’ve seen double-digit growth in overall fundraising. In addition, we have completed the campaign feasibility study and are preparing to launch the quiet phase of a $20-$25 million campaign to meet the needs of our participants in the six neighborhoods we serve.
The Neighborhood House Development & Communications Manager will be a member of our Development & Communications team as well as the organization’s managers’ team. Neighborhood House has a staff of nearly 70 people, nine of them in our growing Development & Communications department. We are a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about our work and the families and neighborhoods we serve. We like to roll up our sleeves and collaborate in our attempt to solve big problems. We believe that innovation and risk lead to learning and success.

Position Summary:
The Development & Communications Manager engages individuals and corporate partners in Neighborhood House work, secures funding (gen-op, sponsorship, and capital) and oversees all external & internal communications activities connecting the dots between fundraising, communications and programming to achieve the mission.
Accountabilities
• Effectively engage a portfolio of 50-75 individual donors with the capacity and propensity to make annual and major gifts at the $1,000 level and above. Develop and implement highly tailored engagement strategies for these supporters, be responsible for all aspects of relationship management, including cultivation, engagement, solicitation and stewardship.
• Responsible for securing corporate sponsorships for Fresh Produce Distributions and events. Develop and implement highly tailored engagement strategies for the sponsor and their employees; be responsible for all aspects of relationship management, including cultivation, engagement, solicitation, including volunteering opportunities and reporting requirements.
• Working with the Director of Development, develop and implement a long-range plan for communications, marketing, and branding of Neighborhood House that tells the organization’s story, upholds the organization’s mission, and increases awareness of the impact of programs for families and the City in order to engage more people in the work of Neighborhood House
• Partner with the Director of Development & Communications to implement strategy to meet the goals of the upcoming capital campaign, including individual and corporate solicitations, campaign marketing and communications, and events.
• Work with Individual and Planned Giving Officer, Director of Development & Communications, the President, and the Campaign Planning Committee to implement strategies for assigned donors.
• Plan and execute donor events that lead to increased engagement by donors and prospective donors
• Lead the Communications team to develop annual communications strategies, content, design, and approval process for all aspects of the organization’s communications needs, including both internal and external communications
• Coach, supervise, and support the Communications Team in order to meet goals and achieve the best results possible for the organization; Provide performance feedback, reflection, and identify and monitor opportunities for growth to the team
• Work closely with the Director of Development & Communications and the Director of Finance to determine the annual communications budget; manage and track expenses to remain within budget
• Attend and participate in department, agency and external meetings, training, committee and events as needed and required
Skills and Experiences of the Ideal Candidate:
• Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and active listening.
• Fundraising experience, especially with corporate sponsorships
• Project management and organization skills; ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail; ability to handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce timely, accurate work
• Experience managing complex projects and possessing the ability to communicate them.
• Motivated to drive projects toward a set goal while remaining nimble and open to possible shifts in plans
• Ability and willingness to work in a complex, collaborative, consensus-driven, environment.
• A commitment to a workplace that values and respects differences of race, ethnicity, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ability, and socio-economic circumstances; willingness to model intercultural competence.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency in a language other than English, bi-lingual and bi-cultural skills strongly preferred.
• Commitment to continued professional development to strengthen capacity to work through an equity lens for social justice.
• Experience working for a human services non-profit.
• Personal living/lived experience of systemic inequity/oppression.

Hiring Bonus: Applicants that apply for this position prior to December 31, 2021, and if you are hired for this position, you are eligible for a $400 sign on incentive.
$200 will be added to their first full pay period check (two full weeks). $200 will be added to their first paycheck after the successful completion of 90 days if the employee is actively employed by NH. Employees whose employment is terminated, voluntarily or involuntarily, before 90 days will not be eligible for the second incentive payment.
