Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Director of Development, Individual Giving. This full-time position requires someone who has demonstrated donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship skills, who is knowledgeable about communication strategies for individual donors, and who has the ability to positively contribute to an anti-racist organization and dismantle structural racism in philanthropic activities. POSITION SUMMARYThe Associate Director of Development, Individual Giving will oversee, implement and monitor an innovative and cost-effective individual giving strategy to maximize engagement of and income from CTC’s individual donors. This position will oversee all annual fund activities, database management and reporting, donor communications and benefits, with a primary focus on developing personal relationships with individual donors. This will include identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individuals within a robust and personalized mid-level ($250-$999), leadership ($1,000-$9,999), and major ($10,000+) giving program, aimed at leveraging the theatre’s assets, events, and programs.
The Associate Director of Development, Individual Giving will act as a leader of the individual giving team and will be a key leader on department strategy and events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSQualification, Cultivation and Solicitation
- Develop and actively manage a donor portfolio of approximately150 and a pipeline of donor prospects; conduct research to identify best prospects; implement system to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward with phone, email, and face-to-face activities; set goals for number of face-to-face visits.
- Oversee department’s moves management system, regularly reporting on progress, and immediate future steps. Run bi-weekly plan review meetings.
- Regularly prepare research profiles on existing donors, patrons and prospects.
- Assist Development Director in identifying major donor prospects for CTC leadership’s portfolios.
- Supervise annual fund solicitation activities, helping to direct content and audience.
- With Annual Fund Manager, set revenue and donor count goals for donor segments.
- Supervise integration of fundraising messaging with external content from marketing and education departments.
- Assist in developing, strategizing, and implementing a planned giving program.
Stewardship and Benefit Fulfillment
- Perform weekly thank you calls, and emails.
- Establish a robust stewardship structure, leveraging various staff and board members, to accurately demonstrate gratitude, and engage donors with programs they care about.
- Prepare program impact reports as appropriate.
- Oversee all individual donor benefits, including those for the Individual Producing Sponsorship and Junior Producer programs, and all individual donor recognition.
- Develop and execute strategies to proactively invite donors to make use of benefits
- Follow up on event invitations, encouraging attendance
- In partnership with Annual Fund Manager, ensure data/systems in place to deliver non-event benefits to donors
- In partnership with Special Events Manager, implement and participate in events designed to attract new donors and engage current donors, including tours, opening night receptions, open houses, donor luncheons and other types of cultivation and recognition events.
- Manage Annual Report.
- Supervise content and production of quarterly newsletter.
Leadership
- Lead department’s donor data collection, analysis and reporting; oversee creation of business rules for Tessitura; lead maximization of Tessitura functionality.
- Research and apply best practices that enhance CTC’s development activities and support future growth and sustainability; monitor and anticipate external/industry trends and organizational progress, assess new opportunities, and develop strategic recommendations for CTC leadership.
- Develop, monitor and report on annual fundraising goals and budgets.
- Oversee the creation of a comprehensive strategic annual campaign and event calendar, integrating CTC’s need for philanthropic support with all external communications, as appropriate.
General
- Help prepare reports for the Director of Development and Development Committee of the Board of Directors regarding fundraising activities and progress as needed.
- Attend committee meetings of the Board of Directors as needed.
- Serve on Curtain Call Ball committee; supervise vendor relationship with Auction Harmony.
- Serve on internal committees and attend staff meetings as directed.
- Accept and implement other specific assignments as directed, including campaign responsibilities and other off-budget projects that advance the mission of the theatre as required.
Collaborate with all departments in the furtherance of CTC’s goal of being an anti-racist/anti-bias theatre that works towards Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
- Assist with monitoring and ensuring access, representation, participation, and decision making for historically marginalized communities in the Development Department, in fundraising projects, and in all aspects of CTC’s philanthropic efforts
- Study topics that lead to a deeper understanding of how white supremacy, racial violence, and systemic racism have shaped American society and how that shapes CTC’s workplace and the lives of CTC employees
- Encourage and empower everyone to speak out against racist workplace practices and policies
- Provide leadership with empathy for all staff
- Positively contribute to the ACT One platform, creating a future where our theatre is a home for all people, all families, reflective of our community

Experience
- Demonstrated experience in a professional fundraising or related field
- Significant experience in securing four- and five-figure financial contributions from individual donors including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of charitable gifts
- Strong knowledge of fundraising strategies; demonstrated experience with donor acquisition, direct marketing, telefunding and annual fund strategies
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, including setting and meeting goals and deadlines
- Experience developing and managing revenue and expense budgets; experience with financial projections desired
- Supervisory experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of fundraising databases preferred
- Commitment to and enthusiasm for fund-raising for theatre, youth services, and the arts

COMPENSATIONThe starting salary range for this full-time position is between $67,000 and $75,000 annually. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance; short-term and long-term disability and life insurance; vacation and sick leave; nine paid holidays; and a 403(b) retirement savings plan.
