Salary Range: Minimum - $31/hr. Mid - $39/hr

Communication partners create and manage plans to build brand awareness, support organizational culture, and drive business growth for Gillette Children’s. The duality of the position requires both strategic and technical skills.

Within the team of communications partners, this role will specifically support the foundation (fundraising). As well, the role will have a focus on creative messaging and advertising copywriting.

This role is ideal for a person with advertising or other creative agency experience who can use their copywriting skills to generate results.

Major Challenges
  • Works closely with clients to effectively communicate Gillette’s programs and services, including creating brand awareness, driving engagement, and generating growth.
  • Must be able to manage many projects simultaneously with varying deadlines, purposes and audiences.
  • Must manage the sometimes-competing expectations of stakeholders.
  • Must be able to translate sometimes complex, clinical information into compelling content that is appealing to broad audiences.
  • Must be able to interact with patients and families who are often in challenging healthcare scenarios.

Core Competencies
  • Coordinates communication strategies and tactics of designated client(s). This role will have primary support for foundation and fundraising.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor to communicate effectively, building brand awareness, and driving engagement and calls to action.
  • Shares aggregated knowledge with Marketing & Communications team to ensure coordination and “connect the dots.”
  • Owns, coordinates and executes tactic established with client partner(s).
  • In collaboration with creative, web and content specialists, develops messages for targeted audiences. Work includes (but not limited to) content development, collateral production, event management, media pitches and social posts.
  • Reviews key metrics and uses data to continuous evolve and improve processes.
  • Participates in various meetings, prepares agendas, meeting summaries and action plans. Updates master plan spreadsheets and other analytics.
  • Coordinates one or more specialty areas (brand journalism, publications, employee communications, advertising, social media, web content and/or other) and synchronizes with other strategy partners. This role will include advertising, brand and other creative messaging, including ad copywriting for traditional, digital and social channels.
  • Manages the writing, editing, production and distribution of communication messages materials, adhering to established deadlines. 
  • Understands the unique needs of each internal and external audience – physicians, patients, families, donors - and develops content appropriately for that audience.
  • Recommends distribution channels and platforms – social media, website, blog, internal outlets, brochures, etc.
  • Updates appropriate media channels with content.
  • Performs other job duties and projects as assigned.
  • Identifies brand-building opportunities.
  • Participates in sharing marketing project successes to internal audiences.
  • Actively maintains files in unified project management system for ease of internal customer experience.
  • Provides proofreading and editing support for specialists on team.
  • Participates in brainstorming activities aimed at developing innovative materials.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree (journalism, public relations, or marketing preferred)
  • Minimum of three years of experience, including writing in a variety of media to a variety of audiences
  • Writing, proofing and editing ability (appropriate tone/style, clear and concise, well organized, complete and accurate)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated effective management of projects from concept to production
  • Advanced computer skills and demonstrated strong ability to use a variety of publications-related software programs
  • Independent problem solving/decision making
  • Experience in developing strong working relationships with a wide range of staff within an organization
  • Intuitive organizational skills.
