TITLE: Development Associate
FTE: Full-time /Non-Exempt/Hourly
RATE: $22.00/hr - $25.00/hr
LOCATION: Minneapolis Office, 2021 East Hennepin Avenue Suite 418
BENEFITS: Medical, Dental, Life, Long-term Disability, (All 100% employer-paid) Retirement (3% contribution by employer)
Paid time off: vacation (120 hrs.) sick (40 hrs.), and holidays (88 hours)

The Sexual Violence Center (SVC) is a dedicated rape crisis center serving Carver, Hennepin, and Scott counties. We support people who have experienced sexual violence through our 24-hour telephone crisis line, individual counseling, support groups, hospital and legal advocacy. The Development Associate organizes and implements administrative systems to ensure effective and efficient development efforts. In addition, this position collaborates with the Executive Director to facilitate effective relationship-building and fundraising efforts to support the mission of the Sexual Violence Center. This role requires strong communication, organizational skills and attention to detail.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Record, process and prepare gifts for acknowledgment.
  • Respond to donor inquiries.
  • Maintain, manage, and grow donor database and prepare fundraising reports.
  • Create and distribute regular communication materials sent to supporters. This includes producing, printing, and mailing thank you letters, crafting messages for social media, creating e-newsletters, creating promotional materials and other content.
  • Organize and produce the annual report.
  • Research and identify prospective donors.
  • Prepare fundraising reports upon request.
  • Participate in the coordination of fundraising and special event planning.

Required Skills, Experience, and Characteristics:
  • At least one year of experience working in fundraising or nonprofit development, or comparable education or experience in another field.
  • Knowledge of 501(c)3 fundraising, a plus.
  • Must be able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and marginalized communities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software including Excel and Word as well as online meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams.)
  • Experience with social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn
  • A strong commitment to social justice and dismantling of all forms of oppression.
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fluid work environment
  • Team-oriented person who will foster a positive working environment.
