Job Summary:PPL is looking for a development professional to take an established fundraising program in an innovative and expanded direction. The Director of Donor Engagement oversees our donor relations program and manages our individual fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing PPL’s fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, and managing the individual giving team. The position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing PPL’s fundraising operations, including major giving, annual funds, and special events. The ideal candidate will have strong collaboration and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build and lead a high-performing individual giving team. We are looking for an analytical problem-solver who is highly organized and deadline-oriented with a focus on delivering results for the department and organization. The ability to think strategically, exhibit cultural competency, and demonstrate strong ethical decision-making skills are a priority.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee a robust individual fundraising program to include direct appeals and annual fundraising drives, special events and engagements, and the annual employee giving campaign.
- Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization that engages donors and supporters while centering the community.
- Strengthen donor loyalty through a comprehensive relationship-building program, including cultivation, engagement, and consistent communications.
- Develop and advance a formal major gifts program, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors.
- Identify prospective individual donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships.
- Build a planned giving program with a focus on estate gifts.
- Assist the President/CEO and Vice President in developing the strategy and call assignments for their individual portfolios and activation of board members in support of resource development.
- Work with program areas and communications to understand and advance the case for private sector support overall and for specific funding priorities.
- Create monthly reports that accurately reflect activity and performance against stated metrics.
- Oversee prospect research, fundraising database, and tracking systems; support the development of support materials for fundraising activities, including gift recognition programs.
- Establish a strong and appropriate relationship with CEO, staff, board, volunteers, donors, and the general community.
- Maintain a level of flexibility with all staff, offering assistance to others as appropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises Manager of Annual Fund & Special Events, Database Manager, and Development Associate (3.0 FTE). May direct the work of interns and volunteers as needed.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education or experience; baseline certification in fundraising, CFRE preferred.
- 5 years minimum experience in fundraising operations, including the nature and dimensions of philanthropy, ethics, motivations for giving and volunteering, research and cultivation practices; standard fundraising techniques including face-to-face solicitation, direct mail, and development office functions including gift processing, prospect and donor histories, and fundraising reporting.
- Understanding the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors to develop relationships between them and the organization.
- Direct solicitation experience is essential.
- Successful experience in making initial introductory calls and visits in support of evolving the portfolio to incorporate greater numbers of cultivation and solicitation strategies.
- Strong interest and passion for PPL’s mission to build the hope, assets, and self-reliance of individuals and families who have lower incomes by providing transformative affordable housing and employment readiness services.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Must be willing to meet in offices and homes of assigned prospects and donors across the greater Twin Cities area, as needed.
- Attendance at periodic evening and weekend activities may be necessary.

- Adhere to the highest ethical standards in management, governance, and fund development. Maintain confidentiality of donor information and honor donors’ rights.

Salary: $95,000-105,000 Yr. DOQ
PPL's work is now a Hybrid Model where 60% of the workweek is in the office or onsite at satellite locations. Our Hybrid Model refers to the split between working in the office (60%) and at home (40%) of the time. Over a 5-day work week, this equates to three days working in the office and the opportunity to work from home for the other two days.
