The AFP Minnesota Chapter Virtual Annual Meeting includes a message from President Michelle Edgerton, along with a program focusing on Land Acknowledgement.
Description:
As many organizations work to incorporate authentic Indigenous land acknowledgments into their organizational culture, we find that we could use some support and some accountability. The Native Governance Center coached AFP-MN in our own land acknowledgement process and soon after, recorded a video that went “Beyond Land Acknowledgment”. Join us if you watched this session live over the summer and still have questions about implementation or want to debrief what has come up in your work since then—we’ll use a live chat to have an honest conversation. If it’s your first time watching or learning about this topic, be ready to tune in, turn off the chat, and take some notes about how you think you can take action. We’ll support each other by naming these actions verbally and in writing. This session will begin, after our own imperfect land acknowledgement, with AFP-MN’s brief annual meeting, for which everyone is welcome. This session is pay-what-you-can, which helps AFP-MN produce thoughtful, equity-centered programming. We ask that organizations prioritize an additional fee/gift to the Native Governance Center, in honor of the knowledge and time they have shared with this teaching.
Agenda:
8:15am: Annual Meeting begins
8:45am: Beyond Land Acknowledgement video from Native Governance Center
